For the Blackchili, Continental developed a blend of newly discovered synthetic rubber with natural rubber and a tread with proven wear resistance.
To these components in the compound were added special nanometric carbon particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for the best use of the bicycle tire for its intended purpose. The tires with the BlackChili compound achieved an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to previous compounds, such as activated silica, BlackChili tires have 26% less rolling resistance, but 30% more grip and increase mileage by 5%. BlackChili technology never stands still, as it is continuously developed in the scientific departments at the Continental plants in Korbach and adapted to the individual applications of the new Continental tires.
Whether you're on the road or on a mountain bike, speed and traction are very noticeable advantages. The most complex compound technology is so sensitive that tires with the BlackChili compound can only be produced at Continental's factories in Korbach.
