Continental has developed a blend of newly discovered synthetic rubber with natural rubber and a tread with proven wear resistance. Special nanometric carbon particles have been added to these components in the compound, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for the best using the bicycle tire as intended. The tires with the BlackChili compound achieved an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to previous compounds, such as the one with activated silica, BlackChili tires have 26% less rolling resistance, but 30% more grip and increase mileage by 5%. BlackChili technology never stands still, as it is continuously developed in the scientific departments at the Continental plants in Korbach and adapted to the individual applications of the new Continental tires.
Whether you're on the road or on a mountain bike, speed and traction are very noticeable advantages. The technology is so sensitive that BlackChili tires can only be produced at Continental's factories in Korbach.
